Hey -
So there's been a lot on for me.. how bout you?
The last 6 months or so has contained some of the most incredible moments of my life - and thats a pretty cool thing to be able to say. Even better, when each day brings its own new experiences, and the opportunity to reflect upon them - like breathing in and breathing out, it's good to be.
So the first transition of this page's new design has kicked in - still nice n simple, but check back regularly for new features and updates.
take care out there,
Pete
G'Day everyone -
Well it sure has been a while since I paid much attention to this website, but hey, yer get that when life is happening. This website and subsequent pages have been on the backburner for quite sometime, but then again, I don't live my life through a computer. All the same, attention is being put towards getting this site flowing again.
There has been much going on for me over the last few months, including many collaborations (both live and in the studio) , writing a stack of new tracks (thanks to massive creative flow), and re-work existing pieces. All of the above has been achieved through an equal and appropriate amount of time out just for me, which is something that I find increasingly necessary.
For all of you who have been asking and wondering about my debut album, sit tight. I am thorough in my craft, and have chosen to re-mix 2 tracks and re-master the whole thing, including a secondary mastering effort for comparison. This kind of manouvre doesn't necessarily happen overnight, as if you knew just how much such things cost in the first place to do properly, you'd understand that it might take an independant artist a lil' longer to achieve. And it's still going to take a little longer yet too, but it's worth it. For me, if no-one else.
That might sound selfish, but at the end of the day, as the creator of my art, I want to be happy with the final product that I give to the world, and there ain't nothing wrong with that. (Kind of good not to have pressures from record labels etc when it comes to time constraints, I must admit!).
While these days most of the world seems to be listening to mp3's on their computers and iPod like devices, and the era of 'the album' is passing fast now that people buy songs as an individual purchase, such efforts by myself and other artists may seem strange, or perhaps against the grain of modern trends. Still, I believe in the art of making an album (which is far more than just 10 songs put together that total more than 45 minutes), and I believe in audio recordings that capture the dynamics and fullness of sound. From there, mp3's have their place in my book.. not the other way round.
The months ahead hold many exciting prospects as I warm up for the launch of the final cut of "chasing heaven catching hell".. after all these years I can assure you I am champing at the bit!! It's actually kinda cool to return to playing those songs.. stepping away from them has brought them back to me in a fresh context, and one that also serves as both a contrast and a realisation of my journey since writing them and recording them all those years ago.
I am also keen to follow up the album with a collection of acoustic songs, and also have a blues album on the go as well. Meanwhile I am relishing every opporunity to play live and continuing to explore the various ways to present my works. While I continue to do solo shows, these are increasingly back on electric guitar, and various band line-ups are being rehearsed as well.
That'll do for an update for now.. this site should be sorted fairly soon, but remember that meanwhile, keep up to date with what I'm up to by visiting my myspace page ---> Click to go there now!
Following the international success of "Solutions for Dreamers: Season 1" (which featured my song "Summer"), Oniric Records, Simple Shoes and environmental group Heal the Ocean have teamed up again to bring the world "Solutions for dreamers: Season 2". The disc promotes environmental awareness and is set to make positive waves all over the globe.
Merlo (of Jack Johnson's band), producer of "Solutions for Dreamers' and Money Mark (of The Beastie boys) composed and recorded melodic beats over which G.Love (of G.Love & Special Sauce) raps Heal the Ocean factoids.
I composed and recorded a little ditty called "Treehouse", which will share disc space with bands from all around the world, including ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra), G'Love, Matt Costa, Culver City Dub Collective, Nine Mile, Matthew McAvene and many more.
This awesome 22 track CD was launched with an amazing festival in Santa Barbara on February 24th 2007, headlined by Michael Franti & Speahead and ALO, and Jack Johnson made a last minute surprise appearance.

A couple of years since it was completed, a decision was made to re-track the vocals for one track and re-mix two tracks before its release. Final re-mixing
